Tat Fane is at the edge of the 1100-sq-km Dong Hua Sao NPA where the trekking trails are the best and perhaps the only way to get into the park. Just past km 38 along the road to Pak Song is Tad Fane -- a picturesque twin set of waterfalls spilling 200 metres down into a deep gorge, located in the jungle of Dong Hua Sao, which is a National Biodiversity Conservation area. Dong Hua Sao is home to a healthy population of tigers, though you are more likely to see monkey, gigantic butterflies and in the wet season, dozens of great hornbills who like to hang out at the bottom of the waterfalls. The falls are quite striking, but unlike other falls in the area, swimming opportunities aren't available unless you take a half-day hike under the supervision of a guide - both the top and the bottom of the falls are a long haul from the resort through the jungle. For the casual visitor, pretty much all you can do is look at them. Half-day treks or full-day treks to the top of the falls can be booked through an adventure travel company including local guide for you. Getting a feel for the real experience, ACTIVETRAVEL LAOS recommends a trekking tour in Dong Hua Sao protected area for you. These 3 days trekking will give you an opportunity to see Tat Fane, with parallel streams of the Huay Banglieng.
